A Mission Born From Love, Sacrifice, and Reality

In 2009, everything changed.
When her son was deployed to Afghanistan, our founder, Christine Waltz, experienced firsthand the emotional weight carried not just by those who serve—but by the families who wait, worry, and hope back home. Communication was limited. Every message mattered. Every day carried uncertainty.
Like many mothers, she began sending care packages—small reminders of home filled with love, encouragement, and essentials. But she soon discovered something heartbreaking: many of the soldiers serving alongside her son received nothing at all.
So she did more.
What started as a mother’s act of love quickly became a mission to reach every soldier she could. She expanded those care packages to include entire units—ensuring that no service member felt forgotten.
That simple act of compassion became the foundation of something much bigger.

From One Family’s Story to a National Mission
In October 2013, For the Love of a Veteran was officially founded with one goal:
To serve those who have selflessly served us.
What began as sending care packages evolved into a full-scale, all-volunteer nonprofit dedicated to supporting U.S. military veterans, active-duty service members, and their families.
Because the truth is this:
The fight doesn’t end when they come home. (fortheloveofaveteran)
Many veterans return carrying invisible wounds—especially Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). They face challenges that most people never see: sleepless nights, anxiety, isolation, and, far too often, hopelessness.
And for too many, that struggle becomes life-threatening.

Saving Lives — One Veteran at a Time
In 2021, we launched one of our most critical programs:
Helping Heroes Heal
Through this initiative, we provide access to a groundbreaking, life-saving treatment known as Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB)—at absolutely no cost to the veteran.
This treatment has the power to:
-
Reduce severe PTSD symptoms
-
Restore a sense of normalcy
-
Give veterans a second chance at life
We don’t just fund the procedure—we also cover transportation and lodging when needed, removing every barrier to care. (fortheloveofaveteran)
Because when a veteran is ready for help, nothing should stand in their way.

Why We Do What We Do
Our service members sacrifice everything:
-
Time with their families
-
Milestones and memories
-
Their physical and mental well-being
They stand for us.
Now, we stand for them.
